Empowering Black Occupational Therapy Practitioners and Students
In order to increase lymphedema education for occupational therapy practitioners and education programs across Virginia, we are hosting a free, one-day Lymphedema education workshop on Saturday, November 8th, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at the College of Health Professions, 900 E Leigh Street, Richmond, Virginia on the medical campus at VCU. The event will be taught by a lymphedema-certified OT and PT and is designed to enhance clinical knowledge and skills in this important area of rehabilitation.
Workshop Topics Include:
· Anatomy & physiology of the lymphatic system
· Understanding edema vs. lymphedema
· Contraindications & precautions
· Treatment principles
· Case-based learning with hands-on laboratories, including:
o Circumferential measurement
o Bandaging demonstrations
o Device demo from Tactile Medical
