About Us

Our Misson

The National Black Occupational Therapy Caucus was founded in 1974 to provide professional support and networking opportunities for Black Occupational Therapist practitioners.

The purpose of the National Black Occupational Therapy Caucus (NBOTC) is to act as an advocate for Black occupational therapy practitioners and occupational therapy students in order to enhance and promote their contributions to the occupational therapy profession, national and state associations, and public-at-large.

Our Objectives

Increase Communication

Among Black occupational therapy practitioners and students.

Support Recruitment

Facilitate and support the recruitment, retention, and certification of Black occupational therapy students.

Promote Equality

Promote equal opportunities in employment and education for Black occupational therapy practitioners and students.

Address Concerns

Identify and address issues and concerns that impact Black occupational therapy practitioners and students.

Foster Representation

Foster representation and participation by Black occupational therapy practitioners and students in professional associations.

Promote Quality Health Care

Promote quality health care and occupational therapy to consumers of African descent.

Encourage Leadership

Encourage and develop leaders and role models of African descent for the occupational therapy profession at all levels.
